The Foundation’s History

  • The Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys Foundation is a not-for-profit Florida Corporation founded in 1991
  • The Foundation has helped organizations and people in the Greater Sarasota Area and beyond since it was founded
  • The Foundation adheres to the goals of Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys
  • The Foundation was founded by members of the Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys
  • The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors (Members of the Rotary Club) who volunteer their time who receive no reimbursement
  • The Foundation is chartered and operates in the State of Florida and follows guidelines within the bounds of Florida’s Charitable Solicitation Registration

The Foundation’s Goals and Accomplishments

  • Since 1991 the Foundation has granted over $1,000,000 to individuals and not-for-profit organizations in the Greater Sarasota Area and beyond
  • Any individual or organization can request Foundation help for a qualified project if the request is sponsored by a Member of the Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys. Grant requests are reviewed by volunteers who help the Foundation
  • The Foundation is a Mentorship Source for businesses and individuals in the Greater Sarasota Area who seek advice and counsel from professional and business leaders associated with Foundation and with the Rotary Club

The Foundation’s sources of operating funds

  • 50% of the Foundation’s operating funds are from gifts from individuals, board and volunteers, foundations and businesses
  • 50% of the Foundation’s operating funds come from charitable fund raising events and its annual endowment income
  • Less than 2 % of gifts to the Foundation are spent on fundraising and administration
  • The Foundation neither asks for nor accepts funds from governmental entities
  • The Foundation is a Charitable Giving Partner with the Sarasota County Community Foundation (SCCF). As such, some gifts to the Foundation may be eligible to be matched by SCCF
  • Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys Foundation has one of our area’s largest Rotary Endowment Funds
  • Part of the Foundation’s endowment is managed by the Sarasota County Community Foundation

How you can help

  • Members of Rotary Club of Sarasota Keys comprise the Foundation Board
  • Any member of The Greater Sarasota Community can:
  • volunteer to be a member of the Foundation’s Community Advisory Board
  • volunteer clerical help to the Foundation’s Board of Directors
  • Donate time, talent and charitable gifts to the Foundation
  • Participate in Foundation community service and fundraising events
  • Tell anyone about the Foundation’s interest in our Community
